i.objectives
this program aims to nurture a group of high-level talents for urban and regional research and management with international outlooks, innovation awareness and practical skills who will adapt to urban and regional sustainable development, have a good command of widespread theories about economics and management, master and skillfully use modern research methods of economics.
ii.program duration
the normal study duration of doctor of philosophy in urban and regional economics program is 3 years. the maximum duration is 6 years.

viii.course requirements
- each student must complete 45 credits as follows: 18 credits from the core courses in table 1; 9 credits from the elective courses in table 2; 6 credits from the academic activities in table 3 by taking part in academic conferences, surveys and project research and so on; 12 credits from dissertation in table 4.
- each student must at least publish one academic paper on a level 1 journal recognized by the institute or at least two academic papers on a level 2 journal recognized by the institute, or else doctoral dissertation defense won’t be arranged.
- after completing required courses, students can start writing the thesis proposal. students can continue their dissertation research and writing upon completion of thesis proposal defense.
- dissertation should pass the assessment and be defended successfully.
viii. study time
the duration for taking all courses is 12 months and the duration for dissertation composition is 24 months.
ix.graduation requirements
1. upon approval from the senate of the university, the doctor of philosophy in urban and regional economics will be conferred on a student when he or she has:
(1) completed and met the requirements prescribed in the study plan of his or her program within the specific study period, and achieved a cumulative gpa of 2.50* or above (excluding dissertation)
(2) abided by the regulations of the university
(3) cleared all fees and charges and returned all university’s property and equipment borrowed
